I have talked with people who are strongly in favor of kinship adoption, "keeping the baby in the family". However, I personally see a lot of issues with that. I feel that it would potentially make the child even more confused (my birth mom is my aunt/sister/cousin too?) I have also seen a few birth moms heart broken because it ruined their relationship with the family member they placed with. A lot of people assume that the adoption will be as open as it gets with a kinship placement, but it isn't always so. What do you think of kinship adoption?
Mine aren't kinship adoptions but I know of 1 that was kinship adoption and 1 was kinship through guardianship (I know I'mw wording this wrong). They are hard. Adoptive parent(s) have to deal with family members which is not always easy. I think pregnant moms or moms thinking about kinship think it will be an ideal situation. It's not always.
