I have seen some debate recently about what 'open adoption' means to different people. Quite often, 'open' to the birth parents means a lot of visitation, but 'open' to the adoptive parents means something else. I have seen a lot of adoptive parents complain about how hard it is to do, say, 4 visits a year. I guess since my adoption is so different I just don't understand that. I see my extended family about that often and it's not too big of a hassle. I understand that people have busy lives but I guess I just don't see a big issue with having several visits a year (as long as it is safe and makes sense distance wise). Thoughts?
