I have seen a lot of talk about coercion and adoption lately. There are a lot of things that some agencies have done that made birth parents feel that hey were coerced into placing their child. This includes moving the birth parent out of state during their pregnancy to give birth in the adoptive parents state, calling an expectant mother a birth mom before she has placed, using financial incentives, etc. What do you think? Do agencies need to be more careful not to make anyone feel pressured, or should the expectant parents learn to make decisions for themselves regardless of other influences?
