Hello, my husband and I are from Texas and are pursuing a waiting child in Albania. It is a international adoption. 9 1/2 years ago, I had a DWI. Our adoption agency had all paperwork from us to be able to begin our home study but once they saw the DWI case, they advised that it had to go to through a "risk evaluation" process and the sent off all of my paperwork to the State to be reviewed to see if I am ok to adopt. We were so disappointed in that had to get a review as it was something that happened a long time ago but we understand there is a process. Our agency however has no idea how long it will take to get the file back with the approval. Has anyone ever gone through this? If so, do you remember how long it took? Any additional information or tips would be so helpful. Thank you so much.
