Hi there! My husband and I are in the beginning processes of becoming foster parents- We have our first meeting with our SW Friday and start classes on Saturday.
My question is-
My mom and dad are divorced- when I was in elementary school my dad took my mother to court for custody of me and was granted primary custody. A few months later my mom was arrested for drugs and went to jail- so of course- she has a felony, however it is sealed, and not child related. She served a short sentence and was cleared from probation over 10 years ago.
Will her felony affect us becoming foster parents?
Thanks in advance.
No. If she'll be in constant contact with the foster kids, she'll be background checked and fingerprinted. But her record won't have any impact on you.
