Hi, we (my wife and I) received
this wonderful baby boy when he was 6 months old. He has brought
us immense happiness and he has just celebrated
his 7th birthday a couple of months ago.
We feel this is the right time for us to tell him that
he is adopted, before he comes to know of it
from any cousins or neighbors.
Problem is that we cannot find the right words to use
to communicate this to him. (or more importantly we don't know what the right words are)
Of course we would not like to use words or terms
which would hurt him.
Can someone; anyone suggest the right verbiage to use
so that the message is conveyed.
Since you have had him since he was 6 mo this old why don’t you make a scrapbook with your life before him and explain why you chose to adopt and then but the pictures of him joining in your life in the book.. make sure that you are prepared to answer any questions that he has with an age appropriate answer. I hope that gives you some ideas.. you should make sure he hears it from his parents before hearing it from anyone else. Good luck!
