I am currently about to turn 18 & I have thought about asking my stepfather to adopt me for a long time. He has raised me since I was 3 & my birth father has been in and out of my life and jail which eventually got his parental rights terminated. He is currently in a hospital as he will be for the rest of his life. I do have a connection with him and very much love him. But I feel it would be a great honor to have my stepfather adopt me. I just have a question about step father adoption that I would greatly appreciate someone helping me answer. Would my stepfather adopting me change me being able to make medical decisions upon my birth father? If there is any more information that anyone would like to add that would be wonderful.
