Very defeated today after a terrible experience with our agency with our first placement. Nice, polite kid but was brought to us with absolutely no information at all other than Rx’s and manager did not mention asthma or allergies when asked but quickly found out he was allergic to our four dogs. After two days being sick, he was taken to another placement.
This was rough enough but the worst part was the major issue last with his case manager. We tried calling over 12 times over 36 hours to get information, try to figure out how to get him medical care without any insurance information, and overall how to handle the situation. No calls to check in or return calls until 1 pm today, then scolded us for not taking him to the doctor and claiming we never called her or the on call number for the agency. Transportation came to get the child without calling us first so had no time to prep him for the move.
So disappointed in this system and process. Is this a common occurrence? If so, we’re really not sure we can go through this again as we were panicked he would have an asthma attack the entire time.

Not sure what state you’re in but in NY, foster kids are on Medicaid. The cards come with them or soon after they arrive.
