We adopted from Ukraine in 2019 however I (Dad) went to Ukraine by himself and brought our child home so we arrived with a IH4 visa. We would like to complete the readoption process but I have been quoted anywhere from $2,500-$5,000 for the process by different lawyers. I know it is possible to complete this process by ourselves and have seen other people post on this board saying they have done so but I have not been able to find out what forms/process is involved (even after extensive Goolge searching!) - most things just redirect to a family lawyer. Can anyone help? I even had one lady tell me you could just do the paperwork used for stepparent adopting? Even then I'm unsure what forms are needed. ANY help would be good, thanks!
