Hi,
I'm Michelle Harrison and my daughter is from IMH, born in 1984 and I know that some of you know her. I/we spend a lot of time in Kolkata. I am close to Gibi, a woman in her 30's who was part of the group of children taken from Presidency Jail. She later spent time in the US and escorted babies. she would love to have contact with any of you who remember her. I stay with her when I am in Kolkata. I speak with her frequently on the phone. I'm also in touch with many of the massis, who seem to remember so many children. for many of them it was like giving up their own children when you left, and that is still true when the few children left are sent abroad. I'd be happy to help communication with any of the massis you may remember.
In Kolkata i would with friends and we call ourselves, "aka noy" which means not alone.

Hi, Beth,
Just came across this forum - my daughter Lia was born 4/28/87 in Madras, transferred up to IMH in Calcutta in June, came home to me in Chicago in Sept. 87. I got a letter from you a week after she came home, along with a picture of her being held by one of the Indian nursery women; the picture is always displayed in our living room. Lia is about to start college next month and is the joy of my life. We'd love to hear from you. When is your mother going to write the India sequel to her book trilogy? Please check out this website to see (and hear) how my friend (also an adoptive mother) and I shared our wonderful journey: www.adoptionsongs.com.

Hi Beth and everyone else,
I was adopted through IMH in Calcutta to Montana. I don't remember anything since I was only a few months old though. I've never been back to India and am trying to research the orphanage I was in as a baby so that I may visit/volunteer there for a few weeks in Dec 2005 if it's still around.
If it's not, I'd still love to get names of other orphanages to volunteer in Calcutta.
ANY ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brittney

My name is Samuel UTTAM Wirtz, I was born in Calcutta on March 3rd, 1987. I was given to IMH in india, and adopted in early August of 1987. My wife found and pointed your post out to me. I figured that if you worked/volunteered with IMH, then maybe just maybe out of a miracle you may remember me!
I have a hole in my heart and that hole has been there and never shrunk since the day I first was in America. I may have only been 5 months old but I have never known my birth Mother and have been stonewalled at every turn and told that no records were kept and that it would be more than impossible to attempt a search!
I see that most of these posts are pretty old, but thought I would make any information I have available for those interested. I was a volunteer escort through Americans for International Aid and Adoption. I made several trips to IMH in the early 80's (sorry I don't remember exact dates). Although we usually didn't know the names of adopting families, some parents did send photos and letters to the escorts. I've had all of you on my heart lately and just wanted to let you know that there have always been some who pray for you and care for you. I always knew that God had a plan for each one of you and went to great lengths to rescue you. Being involved with IMH and AIAA was one of the biggest blessings in my life.

Hello my name is Sarah my birth name is Amrita. I was born 10/04/1988. I was adopted by a family in Boston. I was wondering if anyone was in the orphanage with me at that time or remembers me?
Hi there! I was born September 1 1986 and adopted January 27 1987 (i believe). I'm not sure if you were my escort or if you even remember :) I am just searching to find more information about that time of my life. Thank you for your time!

Beth, I am not sure if you check this anymore. I was adopted back in January 1987 and my name in the orphanage was Medhesrai (pronounced Med-Hess-Ray). I was wondering if you have any information or even remember me from that time I was there? I was born in September of 1986. I have hand written letters from your mom Cheri to my adoptive parents years after we were adopted. Here is my information should you be able to respond: karina.westrate@gmail.com
Thank you!

I know this post is very old. But if you ever happen to see this, I have a picture with your name on it of all the kids who flew to the states from IMH. I’d love to share it if you ever see this
