I am still pretty new at searching but this is what I have figured out so far. I don't believe there is a birth index for Colorado. The actual index is held and managed by the State Health Department - Vital Statistics. So there is no real way to just look someone up. You have to request a birth certificate. This is just my knowledge though.
Has your husband gone to the agency he was adopted from and asked for non identifying info? I recently did that and found out first names and birthdates with some other general info. It depends on which agency how much and what type of info you can get. Some charge for it and some do not.
If you have any other questions feel free to email me or post here. If you need any other help "TheSearchGuru" is full of information...so try and look for a post in here from her. She lists specific Colorado search help in the Colorado folder.
Goodluck.
