Ohio is the most recent state to change their laws to allow adult adoptees access to original birth records. Those who are opposed to the changes state their concern about the privacy promised to birth mothers. But those groups, as a rule, are not birth mothers themselves.
In this video, four birth mothers discuss their experiences, their journey, their pain. These four birth mothers talk of loneliness, loss, and continuing on with their lives. They talk about their desires for reunification.
As a rule, these birth mothers didn’t actually choose relinquishment. With no one to advise or help these very young birth mothers, there was no advocacy.
