Gladney Babies

Feature Image

Hello,
I am adopted and am so thankful that I was adopted by my parents. I can’t think of any place I’d rather be than with my family. My parents are the best. I lost my father sixteen years ago and still miss him more than anything. He was the best father anyone could ever have. I could not have a stronger bond had he been my biological father. To me, my parents were my biological parents. I am so thankful for the best parents and family environment I could possibly be blessed with. They are my real parents. My husband and I adopted a beautiful baby girl. She is twenty-three now. She and I are both “Gladney Babies”. (Edna Gladney in Ft. Worth,Texas.) We couldn’t have loved her more if we had given birth to her ourselves. I had such a connection to her, that I knew when she was conceived, when her mother was at Gladney’s, and when we were going to get our call. And it happened when I felt it would.

She and I are so much alike. People think we look alike. She walks just like her father. We are so proud of her. I am writing this because I have been on both sides of the coin with adoption, and I thought it might help anyone that is trying to adopt, know how an adoptee feels as well as a mother of an adopted child. I have a friend that was adopted three months before me, from Gladney’s, as well as her brother was three months before my brother. Our brothers are two years older. They were best friends until she lost her brother. We have been best friends all our lives. She and her husband adopted their son from Gladney.

Good luck and may God bless anyone who is waiting for a child.
