Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad
This is a poem for my mom and dad This is the thank you for all you have done I have so many great memories in my head I laid in the hospital for 5 days or so When the sixth day came, I was visited by a fairy And there I was, the youngest of seven Asleep on the breezeway, Tippy at my side
Splashing and playing sometimes two in a tub, As I write these things down, thoughts fill my head The beach house was great, with its big wall, Off to the Cape, arms and legs flailing Soon it was time for a smaller house, Next was the house in Brookline, with lots of charm Later good times and tough time came and went
Fall came early and so did the frost As time went by, Dad was soon to retire Then came the words “We bought a view” Mom and dad I’d like to thank you for keeping me that day I love you both; you are the best © Craig Nightingale
The best…parents I coulda had
To make my life a wonderful one.
Which provide for sweet dreams while asleep in bed
Everyone wondering where would I go?
Who whispered in my ear you’re for Charles and Mary
Somebody pinch me I must be in heaven
A warm pot bellied stove awaits us inside
But the best thing of all was the whisker rub.
One that sticks out was that vibrating bed
till the storm came, and caused it to fall
Remember that time that dad went sailing?
This meant goodbye to Johnny Ticklemouse
Soon to be named Bittersweet Farm
But I always knew you were heaven sent
Who can forget getting lost?
Was that before or after the washer and dryer?
And I said to myself, “Now what did they do?”
I really wouldn’t have wanted it any other way
