Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad

Feature Image

This is a poem for my mom and dad
The best…parents I coulda had

This is the thank you for all you have done
To make my life a wonderful one.

I have so many great memories in my head
Which provide for sweet dreams while asleep in bed

I laid in the hospital for 5 days or so
Everyone wondering where would I go?

When the sixth day came, I was visited by a fairy
Who whispered in my ear you’re for Charles and Mary

And there I was, the youngest of seven
Somebody pinch me I must be in heaven

Asleep on the breezeway, Tippy at my side
A warm pot bellied stove awaits us inside

Splashing and playing sometimes two in a tub,
But the best thing of all was the whisker rub.

As I write these things down, thoughts fill my head
One that sticks out was that vibrating bed

The beach house was great, with its big wall,
till the storm came, and caused it to fall

Off to the Cape, arms and legs flailing
Remember that time that dad went sailing?

Soon it was time for a smaller house,
This meant goodbye to Johnny Ticklemouse

Next was the house in Brookline, with lots of charm
Soon to be named Bittersweet Farm

Later good times and tough time came and went
But I always knew you were heaven sent

Fall came early and so did the frost
Who can forget getting lost?

As time went by, Dad was soon to retire
Was that before or after the washer and dryer?

Then came the words “We bought a view”
And I said to myself, “Now what did they do?”

Mom and dad I’d like to thank you for keeping me that day
I really wouldn’t have wanted it any other way

I love you both; you are the best
Happy 60th anniversary atop Night’s Nest
