Heather Wilson wrote a book, “Heather’s Tears: The Story of an American Orphan,” which chronicles her life as a foster child. Entering the foster system at six months of age, she lived in numerous homes. Many of those homes were abusive. Only wanting a family to call her own, Heather was never adopted. At the age of 18, she aged out of the system and is now enrolled in college.
