Because of the decades-old one-child policy in China, there has been a large number of children living in orphanages and available for international adoption. Thus, parents in the United States have adopted more children from China than from any other country. Now, with the change in China’s policy from one child to two children, there are concerns among hopeful adoptive U.S. parents that there will not be a child available for them. Huntsville, Alabama attorney, Aaron Ryan, says that he believes that soon adoptable children in China will decrease, but because more babies will be born, eventually it will level out and more babies will be available for adoption.
