Length of time to complete an international adoption from the moment of decision to the finalization can be long. In this video, our panel discusses the specifics that add to the time. Much of it is determined by the adoptive parents. Dossiers, home studies, and filling out paperwork, as well as gathering funds, can contribute to the length of time. Even when doing all one can to expedite the process by staying on top of the paperwork, each country has its own time frame. The individual country’s legal paperwork, the agency work, and more also add to the time frame. In any particular country, all the paperwork needs to be examined by a variety of the country’s departments. This can be time-consuming but is required.
