There are currently about 200 foster parents in Yakima County. But there are over 400 children in need of foster homes. Because of this, many children are needing to be placed far away from home. This means that these already traumatized children are further hurt as they leave everything remotely familiar to them. More foster homes in the area will be the solution.
For those interested in becoming foster parents, about 30 hours of training, home inspections and background checks are required. Current foster parents are dedicated to the work because they are truly making a difference for children in need.
