Forty years ago Brad Watts was adopted as an infant. HIs birth parents were just 14 and 15 years old. “It was the right thing to do,” his birth mother says. Brad grew up in a loving family and has felt satisfied. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t wonder about his past. Once Ohio’s legislature unsealed adoption records, Brad found his birth family. The joy extended beyond meeting his birth family: his adoptive parents and birth parents met each other and now they are one big, happy family! Brad’s birth parents eventually married each other, so Brad was thrilled to find both parents and his siblings.

This reunification is important on a personal basis, but it is also important as other states meet in legislative gatherings to discuss unsealing adoption records. The story is being shared over newspapers and even in People Magazine.
