About
The name “Mormon” is a nickname for LDS church member’s belief in the Book of Mormon, a religious text the church uses as scripture as a companion to the Bible. The official name of the “Mormon church” is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The members of the LDS church have no qualms with being called “Mormons,” but prefer to refer to themselves as “Latter-day Saints” or just “Saints.”
