Alternatives for Children & Families, Inc., based in Burton, Michigan, is being investigated by the state following the death of 9-year-old foster child, Omarion Humphrey. The state expects to revoke the agency’s license. Omarion was an autistic boy placed in a home with a foster mom who “wasn’t properly trained in caring for autistic children like Omarion.” The boy wandered off during a family outing and drowned in a nearby lake.
Omarion’s death is not the only reason the state wishes to close the agency. In 2013 a two-year-old placed in the same foster home died after choking on a peanut butter sandwich.
