We hear over and over again how hard it is for foster youth who age out of the system, and are then on their own in the world. And we hear it for good reason! It is confusing, scary, and really hard. One former foster child in North Carolina knows first hand about that hardship. And so she fought hard to get a bill passed in that state to allow foster youth to continue to receive assistance after age 18. It’s a great transition program that requires the kids opting in have a plan, and work hard.
