Six-year-old Lee Bonneau was in foster care in Saskatchewan. His parents expected he would receive proper care and nurturing, but Lee was found in a wooded area dead from head injuries. He had last been seen walking with an older boy while his foster mother was playing bingo.

The child advocate stated in a report filed last year that the 10-year-old boy who beat Lee to death shouldn’t have been unsupervised. There had been concerns reported about the boy much earlier, yet he was still placed in a situation where he could hurt others. Lee’s parents are suing the Saskatchewan government for negligence.
