- Case #Amara
Amara was born in February 2003. She is very healthy with age-appropriate physical and cognitive development.
Amara is a sociable, well-mannered girl who follows the rules and communicates well with her peers and adults. She shows curiosity and stable attention and memorizes new information quickly. Her intellect is within normal limits. Amara is able to form adequate attachments, shows compassion for others, and her caregivers share that they can count on her. In group games she prefers the role of leader. Amara thrives on praise and can become jealous of others; however, if she lashes out, after a discussion with an adult she corrects her behavior and takes responsibility for her actions.
Amara is in 7th grade in the 2016-2017 school year. Her teachers feel that while she understands the importance of education she does not apply herself fully or work up to her true potential. Amara manages her personal hygiene with reminders. She takes music lessons and enjoys performing on stage.
Several years ago an adoption was in process for Amara which was disrupted before she ever left her home country. Amara understands that the older she is the lower her chances are of being adopted, but nonetheless she hopes for another chance at a forever family.
