- Case #Eli
Eli was born in October 2003. He is in very good health and his intellectual development is within normal parameters.
A creative boy with a rich imagination, Eli recognizes and expresses his emotions appropriately, makes friends easily, and works hard to form relationships of trust with significant adults. When peer conflicts arise as a result of Elis attempts to take on the role of leader they diffuse quickly and he returns to playing calmly. Eli shows good coordination and enjoys competitive sports, especially soccer and basketball, as well as computer games.
Eli works with a speech therapist based on a limited vocabulary, incorrect pronunciation of words, and speech which is sometimes disordered. He has difficulty sustaining his attention to complete tasks that require extended focus, and as such, he benefits from working one-on-one with an adult. Overall, Eli receives average grades in school despite some academic gaps. As a 6th grade student in the 2016/2017 school year, he receives daily support from a special teacher. Eli manages his personal hygiene and assists with household chores with some prompting. Eli lived with his biological mother for the first 7 years of his life and currently resides in a foster family.
