- Case #Heath
Heath was born in October 2002. He is a healthy boy with typical physical development. Heath has been diagnosed with mild cognitive delays.
Heath is a well-coordinated, upbeat boy who verbalizes his emotions well, actively seeks out interactions with others, and avoids conflicts. He respects authority and seeks approval from his foster parents and other significant adults. Heath demonstrates comprehension and empathy when participating in and leading conversations. While his articulation is often unclear, he is making good progress in improving the clarity of his speech. Heath has some delays in fine motor abilities and in processing educational and social information, but in these areas, too, he has shown continued progress.
Additional support and explanations around social interactions and boundaries have helped Heath integrate better into his peer group and he is now able to organize games according to his interests. At school he participates in a special education program and works with a resource teacher. Heath has a strong intrinsic motivation to improve in all areas. He has a positive attitude towards adoption and is eager for a forever family.
