Keenan was born in November 2013. He has been diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, core atrophy, cerebral palsy, spastic quadriparesis, optic nerve atrophy, gastroesophageal reflux, and general muscle hypotrophy. Keenan suffers from frequent respiratory infections and is fed via gastrostomy tube. He has global developmental delays.
Keenan independently moves his head and hands but is unable to roll over or sit on his own. He spends much of his time awake sitting in a specially designed chair or lying in his bed. Keenan can hold small objects for short periods of time but struggles to manipulate them in his hands. He vocalizes sounds and shows emotions through laughter and tears. Keenan responds to sound and touch and shows contentment when adults interact with him.
