Cousins Sawyer and Simone have a strong emotional bond and are available for adoption together. Both children were born in June 2006 and are very healthy with some cognitive and emotional delays.
Sawyer is a well-coordinated boy who is adept at running, climbing, kicking and throwing balls. He colors within the outlines, cuts with scissors, and writes letters and numbers correctly. Sawyer speaks in simple sentences with a limited, but growing, vocabulary and some articulation difficulties. He recognizes and expresses emotions appropriately, follows instructions and rules, and respects authority. Sawyer interacts well with his peers and adults, has stable friendships, and willingly takes part in group games and activities, including swimming and track and field. He has formed an attachment to his foster mother.
Sawyer often feels anxious and defeated when a task is challenging and seeks attention and approval from adults to bolster his self-esteem. The psychologist, with whom he works weekly during the school year, has noted improvements and feels that he is becoming increasingly calmer. Sawyer is a clean and neat boy who willingly assists with chores in the home and is always ready to help when needed. He is open to the idea of adoption and while recognizing that adjusting to new parents could be difficult, he ultimately envisions himself happy in a forever family.
Simone has well-coordinated gross motor skills, colors within the lines, and accurately writes numbers and letters. She speaks with clear articulation with some grammatical mistakes and continues to develop her vocabulary. Simone is a sociable, respectful girl who follows directions, interacts appropriately with her peers, and seeks attention and affection from adults. She willingly joins group activities and games, often participating at a slower pace than her peers, and like Sawyer, she is a member of the track and field team. She also enjoys dancing, singing, and playing the piano.
Simone is curious and trusting, has some difficulty in recognizing and expressing emotions appropriately, and learns best at school when provided with individual assistance and encouragement. She is capable of taking care of her personal hygiene but requires reminders to do so. Simone welcomes the idea of a forever family.

Update March 2017: Our in-country representative recently visited with cousins Simone and Sawyer and found them to be honest and positive children who are strongly attached to one another. She described their relationship as warm and playful, like that of siblings. Talkative and social, they answered all questions appropriately with good vocabularies and correct diction. Simone and Sawyer are in 4th grade and currently work with a resource teacher per the foster mothers request, as she is unable to help them with the school material. Our in-country representative feels that these bright, sweet children they would achieve much with the encouragement and support of a forever family and she strongly recommends them for adoption.
