Alan enjoys playing video games and watching TV. He also enjoys outdoor activities, such as riding his bicycle and hunting and fishing with adults who will guide and teach him. He also likes animals. Alan requires close supervision and firm boundaries. He is able to form attachments and has respect for his caregivers. Although Alan has trouble controlling his temper on occasion, he can be redirected when needed. Alan does not always interact positively with female peers, but does respect female adults who are strong and supportive. Alan learns at a slower rate than other children his age. He likes to make friends, be funny, and make others laugh. He can be very soft spoken at times. Alan thinks about the future and wants to go to college and own his own truck one day.
Alan's family will be willing to commit to his care throughout his life, including into adulthood. His family will need to keep a watchful eye on him, yet give him the opportunities to do the things he enjoys. His family will need to be patient and understanding, yet firm with boundaries. Alan needs a family with experience caring for a child with special needs. He will do well in a home with no other children or in a home with males only. Alan does best with consistency, structure, and routine.
