- Case #79985
Collin expresses his love and needs by holding hands, sitting close to others, and utilizing an IPad to communicate. When he is not playing games on his IPad, he enjoys getting fresh air outside. Collin is diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and often uses physical touch to interact with people. He uses rocking motions to self-soothe. Care must be taken to ensure Collin?EUR(TM)s safety by wearing a helmet at times; having close supervision; and assistance with daily living needs. Sometimes you can catch Collin attempting to repeat words and enjoying learning how to match words with pictures he is shown. Collin also likes the night life! He can often be found awake during the night. Drawing is also a favorite activity of Collin?EUR(TM)s, and he is ready to share his beautiful creations with a forever family!
The best family for Collin will recognize his unique gifts and needs. His family will need to be able to accommodate the supportive services he participates in, which help him communicate and connect with people, as well as be able to provide assistance with his daily living needs. This will require both structure and the flexibility to adapt on days when Collin needs extra comfort and soothing. Collin needs an advocate! His family will be his lifelong connection and support. He still has a lot to discover and his forever family will need to assist him continuing to learn and grow, and bring out the smile he keeps hidden away.
