Gerald tends to always have a smile on his face from ear-to-ear. He enjoys sitting outside and being in the sun. He loves when people talk to him and touch him. Gerald is a medically fragile child who is diagnosed with several medical conditions, including Cerebral Palsy, chronic lung disease, digestive and circulatory disease, and muscle hypertonicity. He has a tracheotomy and is fed though a G-button. He is also on a ventilator frequently throughout the day and night. Although Gerald is not mobile, he enjoys being rolled around in his wheelchair. He loves getting a lot of attention. Gerald requires a lot of supervision and love. He enjoys being with people. Although Gerald is blind and non-verbal, he enjoys hearing people speak and interacting with him. He also loves to listen to music and movies.
Gerald will do best with a family that is able to provide constant supervision and has some understanding of caring for a child with medical needs. He will thrive in a home with a stay-at-home parent, due to his numerous doctor appointments and therapies. Gerald requires several appointments with specialists and receives nursing hours to assist with his care. He needs a family that will give him love and attention and who will include him in family activities. His forever family will help him reach his highest potential.
