Elise from Bulgaria
Elise was born in February 2006. She has been diagnosed with Angelman syndrome and has cognitive delay, speech impairment, and seizures which are well-controlled on medication. Elise is an energetic, friendly girl who is interested in her environment and loves receiving attention from adults. She is emotionally expressive, and although she has occasional anxiety her moods are generally positive. Elise sits, stands, and walks, holds objects, drinks from a cup, and feeds herself independently, despite an upper limb tremor. Elise follows many instructions but may need the information repeated several times. She vocalizes sounds but does not communicate verbally. Elise enjoys listening to songs and playing musical games. She is enrolled in an individual education program for children with multiple disabilities.
