Michael from Bulgaria
Michael was born in September 2011 and has been diagnosed with mild cognitive disability, hyperkinetic conduct disorder, and mixed specific developmental disorder. He works regularly with a psychologist, special educator and visiting psychiatrist and continues to show developmental progress.
Michael has been living in the same foster family since he was a newborn. He is integrated there and enjoys affection and attention. Michael is especially attached to his foster mother and very gentle with the foster mother's grandchild. He's very independent and has good self-help skills.
Michael has been attending kindergarten since April 2014 where he shows variable behavior. He communicates well with teachers and peers, but may show aggression when he does not get his way. Michael is very energetic with a short attention span, but he enjoys looking at books, hearing fairytales, working on puzzles and playing with toy cars.
Michael's special education teacher reports that he now speaks in longer and logical sentences, has a growing attention span as well as shows more patience, imagination and initiative when communicating and playing. Progress with cognitive skills is evident.
Michael is looking for a family that welcomes his energy and can offer the resources he needs to thrive.
