Orson from Bulgaria

Siblings Octavia and Orson were born in February 2004 and March 2002 respectively. Both are healthy and developmentally on target. They lived in their birth family where they were subject to physical and psychological abuse until June 2013.

Octavia has completed fourth grade in a mainstream classroom. Despite a lack of motivation for her academic work, she reads well and is very good at math. While Octavia may sometimes struggle to focus, she is able to concentrate when presented with a specific task. She communicates well, including asking and answering questions and participating in conversations. She is adequately oriented in time and space and familiar and unfamiliar environments.

At the orphanage, Octavia is a rather stubborn girl who often breaks the rules, initiates conflicts and does not treat the staff with respect. However, her discipline at school is reportedly good and her behavior toward the teachers appropriate. Octavia interacts with other children and maintains friendships with peers.

Orson has completed eight grade in a mainstream classroom with satisfactory academic results. He has a good vocabulary, well-developed imagination, and conceptual and logical thinking skills, but shows little interest in his school work, shows up unprepared, or skips class altogether. He is disrespectful toward his teachers as well as the orphanage staff.

Orson presents as a self-centered teen who does not take the opinions and views of others into account. He is frequently involved in conflicts though able to establish and maintain friendships with peers. Orson participates in joint games and especially enjoys playing soccer.

Octavia and Orson need an experienced family that can meet their multiple needs and support them into a productive and principled adulthood.
