Destiny from Texas
Destiny is a talkative youth who likes playing basketball, riding bikes, skating, playing card and board games, arts and crafts projects, and listening to music. She also loves animals and hopes to have a pet of her own someday. Destiny is an affectionate girl and likes hugs and attention from her caregivers. She at times struggles with following instructions and staying calm when she gets upset. She benefits from reminds to use the techniques she has learned to calm down. Destiny has shown a lot of improvement in this area. Destiny enjoys playing with peers. She has the ability to get along well with other children and is working on improving her social and interpersonal skills. Destiny shares a bond with her older sister, who is not part of this adoption. She is very vocal and has no problem verbalizing her wants and needs. Destiny has a desire to do well in school and states she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Destiny has the ability to get along well with adults when she chooses to do so.
Destiny will do well in a two-parent or single parent home where there is stability, structure, and nurturing. Destiny's parents will need to set clear limits and age appropriate consequences for her. Destiny will benefit from her caregivers learning how to address her from a nurturing standpoint, utilizing techniques found most effective with children from a traumatic background. The adoptive family will need to be supportive of her continued need for supportive services to help her with past issues.
