Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Adopted Children

Have You Seen This?

Denalee Chapman December 31, 2014

Dr. Ron Federici educates us about post-traumatic stress disorder in children adopted from orphanages. This short one-and-a-half minute video is filled with suggestions on how to help these children — new from orphanages — assimilate effectively into our loving homes.

Created for Adopted: The New American Family movie, this little clip is a valuable tool for adoptive parents. Adopted follows two families –- one is at the beginning of the international adoption process; the other is a family with an adult adopted daughter. Instead of glamorizing adoption, the film opens our eyes to some of the harsh realities associated with this act of love.
