Danielle grew up in California with her parents and two younger sisters, Katie and Alexandra. They are a very close family. Even though they live in three different states, they always take time to get together for the holidays and FaceTime each week to keep up with everyone’s lives. Katie and her husband recently had their first baby and Spencer and Danielle adore spending time with their niece.
Danielle graduated from Brigham Young University with her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in special education. She has been teaching special education for almost ten years. She loves having a job where she learns so much each day and that keeps her on her toes. Working as a teacher has helped Danielle to continue to grow in patience and in the unconditional love that is important in being a good mother.
Danielle loves to watch movies, read, swim, go to spin class, travel, and most of all, spend time with family and friends.
Danielle looks forward to the opportunity to stay home and raise their children once they join our family.
About Danielle (Written by Spencer)
"Perhaps what struck me most about Danielle when I met her was how kind, patient, and understanding she is with everyone around her. I knew I wanted to spend my life with someone as smart, beautiful, and strong as Danielle, but I wasn't prepared for how deeply good and committed she is. No matter how full her plate is (and teaching special education math at the high school keeps her busy!) she always take time to take care of those around her and put their needs first. I cannot wait to watch her in action as a mother; I know she will show that same devotion, love, and patience to our children.
"Danielle starts where the rest of us leave off. She has the unique capacity to make an adventure of even the littlest things each day. There is no one more fun to spend a day at the beach or at Disneyland with, and she is a talented and devoted homemaker. It is difficult to keep up with her, hard as I try, but I will be a better person for chasing after her for the rest of forever. Our future is so bright because of her goodness, and I am so excited to begin this next chapter of our lives with our little ones. I cannot wait for you to meet Danielle."
Spencer grew up in Southern California and in Utah with his family. He is the third of four children, and enjoyed traveling, playing, and visiting museums with his family as he grew up. Although his family is now spread across the country, they look forward to time together and make sure to keep up to date on each other.
Spencer also went to Brigham Young University and graduated with his bachelor’s of science in economics. He looks forward to graduating from medical school in 2020 and pursuing a career in family medicine. Spencer enjoys helping others and looks forward to making a difference in his community.
In his spare time, Spencer enjoys reading, playing tennis, and traveling with his family. When he’s not studying or working, you’ll probably find him at the beach.
About Spencer (Written by Danielle)
"Spencer is the most determined and caring person I know. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be an incredible doctor because he has a quiet, strong, comforting presence to him that automatically puts others at ease. He has a gift of thinking about and caring for others that really sets him apart from anyone else. He works hard to make a bright future for our family. Spencer is fun and adventurous. He makes our life together so exciting because he is so good at finding the joy in the small, simple things and seizing the moment. He is so patient and level headed. The logical, thoughtful, driven way he approaches life is inspiring to see.
"I remember when we first met, I was immediately drawn to Spencer’s bluer-than-blue eyes and smile that seemed to just light everything up. He is an amazing husband. He either texts or calls every day at lunch just to say hi and catch up on my day at school so far. He is excellent at cooking dinner and helping around the apartment. He is spontaneous and will come home with flowers or chocolate just because. We have also had the chance to take a few spontaneous weekend getaways together, and still reminisce about them to this day. I love that ours is a relationship where it doesn’t really matter what we do, as long as we are together, we have a great time! He is going to be a fabulous father who will always put his children and his family first."
Our Story & Our Future
Spencer and Danielle met on a sunny day in May 2014. Danielle first met Spencer’s sister and they became great friends. As she and Danielle got to know each other, she introduced Danielle to Spencer. There was an instant connection between them. They became good friends and got to know each other for the next few months before they went on their first date. They dated for just over a year before they got married in Salt Lake City, Utah in July 2016.
Growing up in happy homes full of love and acceptance, we have always looked forward to the day when we could begin our own family. In fact, we began discussing our hopes and dreams for a future family together soon after we started dating. Due to a medical condition, doctors have informed us that it is medically unadvisable for Danielle to carry a pregnancy to term. After marrying and moving to Phoenix for Spencer’s graduate education, we began discussing and researching the various options available to welcome children into our family, and adoption struck a chord in our hearts. We know that adoption is the path for us. We have loved living in Arizona, and would very much like to stay after Spencer graduates for the foreseeable future.
We believe that happy families are founded on love, faith, forgiveness, respect, compassion, hard work and spending time together. We are beyond excited to raise a child in a home where we can let them know how much they are loved and help them discover their unique gifts and talents. We look forward to the family vacations and the big events, but also the little things: cooking dinner together as a family, going on walks, movie nights and spending time together with extended family.
