Welcome to another blog post! Danielle here. We thought we would write this post to try to give you a little glimpse into our lives. Trying to get to know someone though a digital profile is difficult, and the selection process of looking for the right adoptive parents and deciding who to contact must feel challenging. This post is just a little candid look at who we are, and I hope we can give you a better idea of what we are like.
I think one of the defining traits of our relationship is our positivity. Spencer and I love to laugh, and I think this is one of the things that drew us to each other. You could say that we are hopeless look-on-the-bright-side-ers. We catch each up with each other typically in the afternoon or evening each day after work and school. We love to bring one another up to speed on our happenings from the day, and if it comes with some humor, all the better. (Except for Spencer’s dad jokes.) Life has been full of ups and downs for the two of us, as I believe it probably is for everyone. What we have founds helps us through the downs is remembering how lucky we are to have each other, how much we have to look forward to in life, and all the happy memories we have so far.
Spencer and I love people. I think this is one of the reasons we are so excited about starting our own family. And I certainly think working in education and medicine would be unbearable otherwise! Working with people is deeply meaningful for Spencer and I. Isn’t life fascinating? There is so much in the wide world to experience, and sharing it with someone you connect with is some pretty strong magic. The same wonder Spencer and I experience helping our students and patients each day will fill our family and home life, and we really cannot wait.
Can we talk for a minute about books? So I have always loved books, and you could say I have a healthy collection from my growing-up years and from my years teaching school. What I did not expect was how many books Spencer was going to welcome into our home! Spencer and I are something of minimalists in many parts of our lives, but may we make an exception when it comes to the book collection? Spencer and I were both blessed to grow up in happy homes with many happy, overstuffed bookshelves. We believe in the magical transporting power of a good book and in the importance of a lifetime of healthy reading. We’re so excited to share our favorite books with our little ones as they grow!
There is so much ahead that Spencer and I look forward to! We are committed beach-goers. We are definitely pizza connoisseurs. We are always down for a roadtrip. We are passionate about our pool time. But I think what has come to the forefront lately for us is how excited we are to share the things we love in life with our future family. The fun times we had and continue to have with our families have meant the world to us, and we cannot wait to begin our own sort of adventure!
