We are Jon and Julie from Colorado. We’re a very happy, loving, responsible, laid back couple, and are beyond excited to start growing our family through adoption. As you learn more about us, we hope to show you a glimpse into our lives and all that we have to offer.
Our families are extremely important to us, and we believe that family always comes first.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know us and consider us as parents for your baby. We respect and admire your brave decision to consider adoption.
We met on an online dating site (we were skeptical!) while Julie was in grad school in St. Louis, and Jon was working in Dallas. Our relationship started long distance with emails and phone calls, and we definitely built a strong friendship first. After we had our first date, we both knew there was something special between us as we shared a lot of the same interests, values, and hobbies.
After Julie graduated, we moved to Houston – where we are both from. We got married after dating 3 years, and have been married now for almost 7 years. Last year we moved to Colorado, and we enjoy being active and doing all the activities Colorado has to offer, but we are just as content having a quiet evening cooking a nice dinner at home and watching a movie. We love just relaxing at home, watching sports, going to baseball games, going to the symphony and musicals, and spending time with our families. Usually at some point over the weekends you can find us cooking a yummy meal before curling up on the couch cheering on our Houston Texans or the Astros. Living a healthy lifestyle is important to us, and we both love to exercise and cook healthy meals. Jon is famous for his blackened salmon and smoked BBQ, and Julie loves making steamed vegetables and fancy salads.
One of our passions is traveling, and we have been fortunate enough to take some amazing trips both in the states and internationally (Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Ireland, Iceland). We love exploring and experiencing different cultures, foods, and people. We always look forward to our next trip, and this is something we would love to continue with our children.
Our families are extremely important to us, and we believe that family always comes first. Jon’s brother lives in Colorado close to us, and we see him a few times every month – especially during the ski season as he and Jon enjoy skiing. While our parents live in Texas, we still see each other throughout the year and at holidays. Julie’s parents are excited to welcome their first grandchild and Jon’s parents are excited to welcome their second grandchild.
We stay close with our extended family as well, even though some of them are spread out around the country. With Julie’s family, we celebrate “Christmas in July” with her aunts, uncles, and cousins that live out of state. Most of Jon’s family is in Chicago, and we’ve made several trips up there as well.
We live in a house in a suburb in the Denver area. Our neighborhood is very safe and family friendly, has parks within walking distance, and several walking and bike trails nearby. We are zoned to some of the highest ranked schools in the city.
We also have two cats – our fur babies! We adopted them right after we got married, and they’re part of our family too. Mia is orange and white, and Maddie is black.
