Thank you for your incredible generosity and love
We are excited to be so close to having our dreams come true, again.
First of all, we want to thank you for having a big enough heart to share your child. We can’t imagine the strength and love it took for you to make this decision. Thank you for considering us as parents for your child and wanting to learn more about us. We are excited to be so close to having our dreams come true, again. Six years ago, we were blessed with our son through adoption. He is the light of our lives. There is no way that we could love him more if he were biologically ours. It just isn’t possible. We have known since before we were married that we weren’t going to be able to have biological children. Jason was diagnosed with Leukemia when he was 16. We are happy to report that Jason has been healthy for over 20 years; however, the chemotherapy that he received left him unable to have biological children. From the very beginning of our journey, we knew adoption was the right choice for us to grow our family. After a lot of research, we sought out an agency for a domestic adoption. We were so lucky that we were chosen after only 1 year of waiting. Our son is perfect, but we always knew we wanted more children. He knows that he is adopted (as much as a 6-year-old can understand) and we are very open about it. Jake keeps asking when he is going to have a sibling. We plan to be open with both of our children about their adoptions. We have a semi-open/closed adoption with our son. We send updates and photos to the agency for the biological mother and we have a letter from her for when he is older. We are hoping for the same level of openness with our next adoption. We would also like the biological parents to be open to contact when the child is older and wants to seek it out. Thank you again for your incredible generosity and love.
We are a great couple and complement each other well.
Get to Know Our Family
We had no doubts that adoption was how we wanted to grow our family.
Jason grew up in a small town in Mississippi about 2 hours from where we now live. He has two older sisters and five nieces and nephews. Jason’s parents were married for over 30 years before his mother passed away from cancer in 2009. Jason is very close to his family and has a large extended family that live in his hometown. Katie grew up in Florida before she moved to Mississippi for work. Katie has one older sister and one niece and nephew. Katie’s parents have been married for over 30 years and live about three hours away. We enjoy visiting her parents often. Jason volunteered at the hospital that saved his life, which happens to be the hospital where Katie works. She was working on a different floor the night we met and Jason had come to visit her patient. We began talking about college football and hit it off. Jason tracked her down through his connections at the hospital. After about a month of talking through emails and phone calls, we finally went out. We bonded immediately and were engaged in less than a year. We have been married for 10 years and are best friends. We knew before we were married that they were not going to be able to have biological children and started looking into adoption right away. We had no doubts that adoption was how we wanted to grow our family. Jason is very easygoing and laid-back. He balances Katie’s urge to organize and plan. Katie makes sure it gets done, while Jason makes sure we have fun doing it. We are a great couple and complement each other well.
We never have an excuse to be bored.
We like to remember how unique our family is and celebrate the day we became a forever family.
Every year on the anniversary of the finalization of Jake’s adoption, we celebrate his “Gotcha Day”. We like to remember how unique our family is and celebrate the day we became a forever family. We are a very active family and love to be outside. We like to hike, camp, kayak and fish. Luckily, Jake likes anything that involves the outdoors. We also like to attend all types of sporting events; even the one’s in which Jake is not involved. We have a Triple A baseball team in town, a professional basketball team, a semipro football team and Jason’s alma mater close by. Needless to say, we never have an excuse to be bored. Individually, Jason enjoys working out, fishing, hunting and kayaking, whenever possible. He is also an avid sports fan. Katie likes to work on her photography skills, woodworking, scrapbooking and loves to read.
