Our Adoption Story

Our adoption story starts way back in 1999 when we had our first date to an outdoor concert at Sundance Ski Resort! It was perfect September weather for listening to some good tunes and cozying up under the stars! 1 year later we were married and excited to start our family! 6 years later with lots of depressing fertility treatments under our belts, our whole world brightened when we welcomed our daughter Summer to the family! Her amazing birth mother was the answer to our prayers and literally an angel in our lives! We really didn't know much about adoption when Summer was a baby so we became very active in community groups that educate and help to network those in the adoption community! We have met our closest friends through these adoption groups and really can't imagine our life (or who we would hang out with) had we not become parents through adoption. 10 years later and we are still very actively involved in those community groups. We can't help but want to share the love of adoption!

2 years after Summer was born we welcomed our little boy Jace to the family and also another angel birth mother! The amount of respect and admiration we have for both of our kids birthmothers is indescribable.

Birthparents and their families are VIP's in our book!

We have watched them make the hardest decision of their lives and become stronger because of it. We have open adoptions with both our kids birthparents and love that they will know where they came from and why! There will never be any questions in their minds as to how many people love them! Our birthparents and their families are VIP's in our book!

Now 8 years later it might seem odd that we are wanting to adopt again! But we couldn't be more excited to welcome another child and birth family into our lives. And we hope there is another birth family interested in welcoming us to their lives too! It wasn't until recently that we felt the time was right for another child. We think it will be awesome how loved a new sibling will be, to have two older siblings doting on them! There are lots of positives for us in adopting again that we think stand out over being brand new parents. We know what to expect and have lots of energy to deal with little sleep and busy toddlers. We're excited to be more relaxed this time and not stress over things that we did as new parents. Having two kids with completely different personalities has taught us a lot on how to parent different children and not expect the exact thing for each. Any worries we had on open adoption are also gone. We have great relationships with our birth families and are excited to welcome another birth family! We hope that family will be you and are excited to build our relationship!

What We Strive For

Our family is religious. We believe that families are forever and that bond goes past this life and into the eternities. When we adopted our children, both of our birth families told us it brought them peace to see that their children were part of the family that God had helped them to choose.

That is the wonderful thing about adoption, everyone supports each other!

Though adoption was the hardest thing they ever had to do they have told us they feel strongly that our children are where God wants them to be.

We feel a strong responsibility to raise our kids well and not to take for granted the great gift that they are both from their birthparents and from their Heavenly Father. We value education both through academics and extracurriculars. We let our kids try different hobbies and sports so that they can feel a sense of accomplishment and independence. So far all together they have tried swim team, dance team, tumbling, karate, baseball, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, sewing, art, and probably something we are forgetting! But luckily these things aren't all at the same time!

We also want our kids to experience the world to appreciate the beauty in it and the uniqueness of other cultures. We have taken them all over the place and hope that as they get older they can last for longer plane flights and see and experience even more. We also want them to enjoy and be content with where they are. We try to go bike riding, hiking, splash in streams, rollerblade, and go walking whenever we can. We love to watch them play with friends and bike around the neighborhood. They definitely keep pretty busy and we are happy that they can enjoy their childhood!

For us, becoming a family through adoption has truly been a blessing! We truly believe that God wants the best for your child and for you and if adoption is that path when you find the right family you will know. If that family is us, we will be ecstatic! If it is not we will be ecstatic for you and another family. That is the wonderful thing about adoption, everyone supports each other! Something our family can definitely provide is proven stability. We have been married for 16 years and are still each others biggest fans!
