So winter is not our favorite time of the year. In fact more days than we would like to admit we become hermits and stay home and binge watch Netflix. We feel totally accomplished as we have now watched and finished several different shows haha... The shows this year have consisted of...
This was SO amazing we were only able to watch Season One on amazon prime. This is what it is about: Captain Ross Poldark, a redcoat returning to Cornwall after the American Revolutionary War, only to find his father dead and his true love about to marry someone else. A Mammoth Screen production, the seven-episode series is packed with action, adventure and romance. Also featured are Eleanor Tomlinson as servant Demelza, Warren Clarke as Uncle Charles, and Heida Reed as Elizabeth Chenoweth. Robin Ellis, who portrayed Ross Poldark in the original adaptation 40 years ago, appears here as Reverend Halse. Another one we watched was White Collar. This one was pretty good. We enjoyed most of the seasons, but started to get a little board towards the end... but that could be because there were 6 seasons! Here's what this one is about: The series stars Matt Bomer as Neal Caffrey, a former conman, forger and thief, and Tim DeKay as FBI Special Agent Peter Burke. The pair form an unlikely partnership as they work together to apprehend white collar criminals. We finished watching Heart of Dixie toward the beginning of winter. We liked this one. It seems so long ago that we finished this one.. even though it was only a few months ago. It didn't disappoint in the drama and the love triangle. Here's the synopsis for this one: New York doctor Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) has reached a crossroads in her life when she decides to accept an offer from a stranger to work with him at his practice in Alabama. When she arrives in town, she discovers that the man has died and left her his half of the practice in his will, something that doesn't exactly make her new partner happy. Despite the shock of Southern life and some less-than-hospitable town folk, Zoe decides to give her new life a chance and discovers a new side of herself in the process. We also watched Prison Break.
I have seen season one and part of two when it first came out, but loved it so much that I decided to watch it with Rob and now we can watch all of them together! This is what this one is about: Michael Scofield is a desperate man in a desperate situation. His brother, Lincoln Burrows, was convicted of a crime he didn't commit and put on Death Row. Michael holds up a bank to get himself incarcerated alongside his brother in Fox River State Penitentiary, then sets in motion a series of elaborate plans to break Lincoln out and prove his innocence. Once out of jail, their perils aren't over -- the brothers must flee to escape recapture and battle an intricate political conspiracy that puts everyone's life at risk.
So what do we do when we aren't binge watching, you ask?? Well we really like going tubing at a nearby tubing hill. The best part about this place is that you don't even have to walk all the way up the hill! It has a system that you hook the tube to and it pulls you up.
We love gathering snow along the way and throwing snow balls at each other as we ride up the hill. Or if you are in front then you can drag your feet making it bumpy for whoever is behind you. Ha ha gotta make that ride as ruff as possible for the ones after you ;) At the top of hill you can decide to go alone or you can a train of some sort. We LOVE doing the trains because you get to experience the "experience" together and laugh the whole way down. Plus it seems like you go faster in the train.
My younger sister worked there for a few years and we had a blast when we would get to go with her. She still goes with us when we go. She knows all the "right" trains and hills to choose.
A few other things we enjoy doing in the winter are projects on the inside of our house. A few years ago we painted all the baseboard and doors on the main floor. So much work, but we love how it turned out! I enjoy finding yard sale items and then fixing them up to look completely different. I recently finish the headboard for our bedroom. I joke with Rob telling him that I start the projects but he usually jumps in and finishes them haha. Rob usually has an easier way of doing things.
Rob usually enjoys reading magazines and plotting how he going to take on another project, whether it's a car, the yard, one of my projects ;), or something to do with the house. He researches like crazy to come up with the best way of doing things. He's awesome like that.
