It was so sweet this morning, I woke up to find a Mother's Day card sitting on my bathroom vanity. It was from Joe of course. He signed it, "Happy To-Be Mothers Day". He said he was so confident that I was going to become a mommy this year, that he thought giving me a card today was appropriate. What a guy right? Of course the tears started. Happy ones. Joe is a deeply tender, thoughtful kind of guy. He always surprises me with cards. I think he is so tender because he lost his mother when he was 8 years old. There are no words to explain what that does to a person, but Joe has found writing songs about it helps to heal his heart. And now, my Mom has become his, so I thought on this mother's day, I would tell you about my Mom.
This is my Mom at our wedding. Mom has a lot of physical issues so she is in a wheelchair most of the time. She is where I get my love for travel, art, and all things colorful and unique. My Mom wishes she were an international spy. I swear it's true, she told me once when we were playing a game. She loves Andrea Boccelli, listening to his music makes her cry. She is currently hooked on South Korean dramas and love stories; she watches them with sub titles on her iPad and she is thoroughly hooked. She always taught me to dream big, aim high, and fear not. She loves anything with caramel, orders her steaks extra rare, loves bleu cheese, and her best friends in life have always been her shelties. Mom went to University of Iowa, she met my Dad on a blind date, and to this day her favorite cities in the world are Vienna and Prague. Oh, and my niece and nephew have a nickname for her: Candy Cane Nana. It's a long story. :)
To all the Moms in the world,
