I have never written a post before but was thinking it is so difficult to get to know someone on a one dimensional plane. I'm not sure that writing a post will help you get to know my personality a little bit more, but it can't hurt.....unless you just really don't like me - and that's fine too!
So....my favorite season is the summer. And, like most people, I love the weather and the relaxed feeling that everyone has. People seem less guarded and generally happier, maybe it's less pressure from work or kids not having school and the rigidity of schedules - whatever it is, I love it! If you have flipped threw my photos, you will see we are a beach loving family. I love the ocean, the sand, the air - but truly the best part about it is spending carefree, unstructured time with my nieces and nephews. We swim, they surf (not me - I watch), we stay up too late, get ice cream, we ride our bikes - its just the best time to be with them. They are each growing into such unique characters and are a pure joy to hang around. I can't believe that they are now closer to college age then to kindergarten, but their parents have done an amazing job in raising kind, independent and most importantly nice little people. I'm so proud of the kids and their parents.
With summer coming to an all too quick end, the school year lurks ahead with homework, sports and play dates, etc. Living 10 minutes away from the kids, I have the great fortune to see them all of the time but the ease and relaxed vibe of the summer disappears as quickly as the daylight it seems. In the Fall, I'll go to the sports events, plays, family dinners and of course we have a few birthdays and Christmas to look forward too, so its not all bad, just not the beach!! However, we do have a few weeks of summer left, so time to make the most of it!!
The picture above is with my almost-12 year old niece....she is a riot and we are super close. The picture was taken by her at brunch, after we rode our bikes into town. She didn't stop talking from the moment we first pedaled until we returned home!!! Its moments like this that I try to remember on the cold dark nights in the Winter. Thankfully we have this "beautiful" photo...LOL
