A Phoenix foster mom is concerned that kids in the system are not getting the health care that they need. A recent report validates her concerns.

Health care for foster children in Arizona does exceed what other states provide. However, there is still concern that there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to behavioral health care.

When a child is placed in foster care, it usually takes a little time for the foster parent to learn all there is to know to properly care for that child. Often there are medical visits that need to take place. A better system needs to be put in place. Foster children are covered by Medicaid and given opportunity for physical, mental, and dental screenings. But there is usually more health care that needs to take place.
