Simone Biles became a household name during Olympics as she wowed viewers and judges alike. But her gold-medal performances weren’t all that made Simone lovable. Simone was placed into the foster care system at age three after living with a drug addicted mother who really couldn’t properly care for children. While in foster care, Simone would be most excited when she knew she would be getting a visit from her grandpa.

Then, in 2000, Simone’s life became a fairytale. Her grandparents adopted her and they became “Mom and Dad.”

Simone is now gaining popularity among Dancing with the Stars fans. In this short video clip, Simone shares the emotional reason behind choosing to do the Viennese Waltz that won her 36 points out of 40 from the judges.
