South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, together with the Department of Social Services, have gotten together to make changes to the foster care system.  In response to a federal class action suit, the government is working hard to create a plan to keep children in foster care under the age of six out of group homes, to keep all children in foster care from having to sleep in offices and hotels, and to change the caseload limits. To date, the number of caseworkers does not come close to being able to handle the number of children coming into and already within the foster system.
