Southwest Louisiana, as well as many other places throughout the United States, is in desperate need of more licensed foster homes. More and more children are being removed from neglectful and abusive homes and taken into state care. When there are not enough licensed private homes, the children are either placed in group homes or sent out of the area, thus disrupting their lives even further. Often children taken out of their homes end up spending extra time in the DCS offices while waiting for a home to open up. For those interested in becoming foster parents, please contact your state’s Department of Children’s Services.
