Foreign nationals living in Sri Lanka aren’t allowed to adopt Sri Lankan children. Only children from 3 months to 14 years old can be adopted. Each applicant must be at least 25 years old and 21 years older than the child, and married. Same-sex marriage or partnerships aren’t recognized in Sri Lanka. Three adoptions were finalized in Sri Lanka in the year 2011.
