The video, released earlier this month, follows a birth mother and the adoptive parents she chose for her son 48 hours after his birth.
In Texas, there is a 48-hour window after a baby is born before his/her parents can terminate their parental rights. This video portrays the raw and honest emotions of love and pain experienced on both ends of the adoption spectrum.
“It’s okay to feel joy and sorrow at the same time. It’s okay to feel love and pain . . . ” said the adoptive mother in an emotional letter to her son’s birth mother.
The Archibald Project out of Austin, Texas, is the nonprofit behind the video. According to its website, its mission is to inspire people to care for vulnerable children and families so that fewer children are called orphans.
